F.A.Q.
I am not available from August 3 to 6, may I still be a volunteer?
According to the needs, we may call people who will be available for a shorter period. Register yourself, and we will keep your file and contact you accordingly.

I bought a ticket and will be attending the teachings, may I help before or after the event?
With pleasure! Forward us your complete file and we will contact you according to the needs.

Which is the minimum age required to be a volunteer?
You must be 18 years before August 1st.

Which are the tasks of a volunteer?
Reception and orientation of the public, placement in the hall, distribution of the translation earphones, cloackroom, information, sale of drinks, clearing of the tables, sale of objects (shop) etc.

Can I choose what task I volunteer for?
No. You can choose the sector in which you wish to work and we will try to consider it as far as possible, but obviously, we won’t be able to satisfy everyone’s choices. The task which will be allocated to you in the required sector, cannot be selected.

Are specific aptitudes necessary to become a volunteer?
No, we only require enthusiasm, goodwill and courtesy! However, certain competences could be particularly useful, therefore mention them in your application.

How long do volunteers have to work?
During the assembling (1st to 3rd of August) and disassembling (6th and 7th of August) of the event, volunteers will work about 8 hours per day. Work starts around 8 a.m. and finishes early evening.
During the event (4th and 5th of August) volunteers work approximately 8 hours per day. Working hours start from 7 a.m. and finish at about midnight. Staff rotations are planned throughout the day. Your 8 hours of work may be uninterrupted or split over multiple rotations.

Do volunteers receive free meals and drinks ?
The volunteers will be provided free lunch on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th and 7th of August. On the 4th and the 5th of August, meals and drinks are at your charge.

Do the volunteers work during the teachings/conferences?
Partially. Shift rotations and breaks are scheduled so that each volunteer can assist ½ or the ¾ of the event.

Will all applicants be called?
No, unfortunately not. Depending on the number of applicants, we can’t guarantee a place for everyone. We will contact you by email to let you know whether your application has been accepted or not.

I live far from Lausanne and can’t go home in the evening. Is there any inexpensive lodging available?
Volunteers coming from far away can stay in affordable lodging available in civil protection shelters located nearby the place of the event (at your charge 15.- Swiss francs/night). Please indicate on your application if you are interested.
